I recently discovered a website called Unshelved, which is a library-themed comic by Gene Ambaum and Bill Barnes. It’s well worth a look for its light-hearted and humourous approach to library life.

Interesting things found in books

Here at the Library we find our fair share of photos, bookmarks and shopping lists that patrons have accidentally left in their books when returning them. A blog entry on www.neatorama.com describes some interesting (and sometimes valuable) items that have been found in books from libraries, garage sales or bookshops. Based on the post and its comments, it’s amazing how often rashers of bacon seem to be used as bookmarks…
